Our programme for 2025/26 is divided into eight modules, each focused on a particular area of photography and aimed at appealing to everyone from camera phone users to those with bags of kit. The first session of every module is a talk by a key speaker, and then in the subsequent weeks we explore the theme in further depth by way of practical sessions, peer reviews and discussions, in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable environment. In the Judge’s Review evenings Members of all abilities are invited to submit images for critique and advice to further refine their skills. There is always an Open category for those who prefer to submit images not related to the theme of the current module.
Simon gave us a talk in last year’s season, so it is no surprise we raced to book him again this year. In this talk he introduces us to the art of the still life – and still life photography in particular. As well as presenting a large number of his own stunning light-painted still life images, with light and shadow reminiscent of renaissance art, he’ll take us through a brief history of both still life painting and photography – and describes how classic art can influence modern photography. You can see some of his images here: https://www.simoncaplanphotography.co.uk
Today is the last date for entries into Competition 9: Reflections, and Open (Prints).
